Clearly Government is pushing Export with their Exporting is Great initiative as the UK imports more than we export. The manufacturing sector is an important one to the UK so we discussed:

  • What the EEF does
  • Looking ahead – there seems to be several factors affecting manufacturing in the UK these include: (i) Technological Development (ii) Quality procedures (iii) Availability of Finance (iv) Managing Talent (Skills)  (v) Government Policy (vi) Effective management of Supply & Demand
  • We talked about these in relation to the latest data trends researched by the EEF
  • David talked about the trends nationally, Eg North, Midlands, East and West
  • We talked about the core issues in Technology &  Automotive
  • Clearly the manufacturing sector has a culture of learning and development – we discussed their main learning needs

  • Additional struggles Where are the pain points? What’s the solution?
