First Logistics Firm To Create Degree
Uniserve Group – the first logistics company ever to create a degree for the industry!
If you’re looking for a brighter future and are keen to take your first steps into the world of business, the Uniserve Group (the largest independent logistics and freight management provider in the UK, established in 1984) have led the creation of an outstanding supply chain qualification.
This Degree Apprenticeship offers school leavers and existing supply chain employees an important first step in becoming a supply chain professional and leader, while achieving a long-lasting career in the supply chain industry.
Uniserve’s Group HR Director – Paul Stone – who chaired a group of 150 employers (including Florette UK & Ireland, Nestle, Siemens, Univar, Amazon just to name a few) – designed the apprenticeship to bring together a range of supply chain disciplines, with a balance of technical competence and intellectual and practical ‘business’ skills, that support learners to become future global supply chain professionals.
Subjects include: Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management, demand & supply management, purchasing, procurement, technology, leadership and more.
Uniserve Group member – the Supply Chain Academy (the world’s leading end-to-end supply chain training provider) – worked in partnership with Leeds Trinity University to develop the Supply Chain Degree Apprenticeship.
Sally Gale, Operations Manager at the Supply Chain Academy commented, “Students will not only gain a degree, but this apprenticeship provides them with the opportunity to earn while they learn and avoid university debt. They will gain practical experience and develop professional networks while working on the qualification.”
“The apprenticeship also provides existing staff with the opportunity to fill gaps in their knowledge and gain a Bachelor’s degree – it’s a great confidence booster.”
Alex Mortimer, Director of the SCA added: ‘Candidates will be working on practical supply chain deliverables and issues from day one, so they will have plenty of opportunity to make a meaningful impact at work. We created this degree to ensure that the apprentices develop the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours to succeed.’
Uniserve Group has become synonymous with quality, reliability and innovation, all delivered at the lowest possible cost. This, allied with continuous investment, has allowed Uniserve to grow and become the UK’s largest privately owned logistics and global trade management provider.
