Innovative Masters level apprenticeship launched for Supply Chain Leaders
New innovative Masters level PgDip/MBA (Supply Chain) apprenticeship unveiled for supply chain leaders
A new and innovative degree apprenticeship for supply chain leaders has been launched by the Uniserve Group in partnership with the University of Suffolk.
The Group, with its leading Supply Chain Academy incorporating CP Training Services Limited, hopes the new Senior Leadership Apprenticeship will become an important career route for future supply chain leaders, in collaboration with the University.
The main purpose of business is to generate income through the production of goods that may be sold on to customers for a profit. Over the last few years, we’ve seen that that the pace of change has intensified, and businesses need to adapt quickly if they want to survive. The success of any business is dependent upon the performance of their supply chain and their future leaders. As global supply chains are increasingly complex, they need to evolve and supply chain leaders need new skills to manage and lead this change.
This business-led senior leader programme is designed to inspire as supply chain leaders develop their critical thinking and strategic skills. As a result, they will be better equipped to lead a sustainable supply chain and business operation, which is critical in this changing world of work.
Delivered over a period of two and half years, every module is taught by experienced supply chain and management professionals and work-based tutors, bringing personal experiences and perspectives that enrich the learning experience.
Aligned to the new Level 7 Senior Leader Standard, employers can use their apprenticeship levy to fund the first stage of the Senior Leader Apprenticeship Standard, as they work towards a recognised Post Graduate Diploma (Business Administration – Supply Chain). In the second stage, senior leaders can achieve the full MBA (Supply Chain), by completing a Work-based project as a ‘top-up’ which would be paid for by either the employer or employee.
Sarah Scowcroft, Programme lead, said:
“We are delighted to launch this new supply chain senior leader programme. We spent a lot of time in creating ‘up-to-date’ material that was relevant to the needs of the supply chain industry and aligned to the new senior leader standard. The content will inspire, yet stretch even the brightest minds and help develop tomorrow’s supply chain leaders.”
Alex Mortimer, Commercial Director, The Supply Chain Academy, said:
“During these tough economic times, businesses need highly skilled managers and leaders to drive the recovery forward. Following extensive research of the needs in the marketplace, we have created a programme that is business-led, relevant and critical to support supply chain leaders for the future.”
Professor Gurpreet Jagpal, Pro Vice-Chancellor Business and Entrepreneurship, University of Suffolk, said:
“We’re delighted with our partnership with Uniserve and the Supply Chain Academy and are very proud to develop and deliver this innovative programme. The University of Suffolk is committed to transforming lives and our region through education, training, research, business, and community engagement. Apprenticeships play a significant and important role in delivering this, and we are really pleased to launch the Post Graduate Diploma (Business Administration – Supply Chain). Focusing on building the skills that industry needs the programme will work with partners across the UK in ensuring we have the Supply Chain professionals to support the skills needs of the future. Our recent Ofsted inspection has recognised our apprenticeship provision as Good and we will continue to build on that success with the launch of this programme.”.
Assuming that response is good, the first degree cohort may start in May, but in any case, the first definite intake will be for a September 2023 start, Applications are open now.
