Senior Level Supply Chain Excellence

150 of the leading UK supply chain specialists confirm the skills needed for supply chain excellence at a senior level.

For over two years the Uniserve Group, supported by the Supply Chain Academy, chaired a ‘trailblazer’ group of 150 leading supply chain organisations to identify the key skills, knowledge and behaviours needed by today’s supply chain professionals.

This research has culminated in the creation of the first degree apprenticeship for ‘end to end’ supply chain, designed by the supply chain industry.

True Collaboration

The ‘trailblazer’ group of employers and Higher Education Establishments, supported by the UK Government-sponsored Institute for Apprenticeships, identified and developed the apprenticeship standard to include the theoretical and practical skills and knowledge desired by the supply chain industry.

The standard balances technical competence with practical business skills to develop the future global supply chain professional.

This result is the Supply Chain Leadership Professional Degree. The UK’s first qualification designed by the whole supply chain industry.

First participants

In September 2018, the Supply Academy, alongside its partner, Leeds Trinity University enrolled the first 25 apprentices from a diverse group of supply chain organisations from the manufacturing, retail, logistics and technology sectors. Applications are now open for further public programmes to start in May and September 2019.

The Supply Chain Leadership Professional Degree Apprenticeship may also be delivered in-company for a minimum number of employees. The in-company programme provides the added benefit of a tailored approach to meeting both the apprenticeship standards and corporate needs or the client.
