The Academy in Parliament

The Supply Chain Academy attended parliament last week when Paul Stone, Group HR Director, met with MP’s at the House of Commons to talk about, amongst other things, Uniserve’s Degree Apprenticeship standard and the Supply Chain Academy’s collaboration with Leeds Trinity University Business School.

Paul had lunch and a meeting with the Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), including Barry Sheerman MP and Jason McCartney MP.

After lunch Paul joined the APPG , for a keynote address by Jo Johnson, Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, followed by discussions with MP’s, representatives from the House of Lords, employers and representatives from Yorkshire Universities about the need for upskilling, particularly for SMEs, in this ever-changing economic environment.

Paul emphasized the fact that for employers to be able to design their own qualifications, such as the degree apprenticeship, as the government were expecting, they needed as much support from the government in understanding the process as possible..

He Commented “this was a great opportunity to fly the flag for Uniserve and the SCA with a senior Minister, influential MPs and Universities’
